Job Description

On behalf of our client, Adecco, is currently looking to fill a Group Controller job opportunity in Leamington, ON.  The successful candidate would  report directly to the CFO.  

The responsibilities for the Group Controller job opportunity include:
- Operating and determining the rules of a modern and transparent accounting system that is compliant with statutory requirements
- Shaping and configuring the planning and control cycle to ensure that the management boards receive prompt and reliable management information
- Establishing a management control system for reporting on operations and managing risks identified
- Generating advice and proposals for financial and economic policy
- Enhancing the professionalism, performance, motivation and multi-functional deployment of financial and administrative staff within the department
- Determining the rules for and supervising the efficient management of liquid assets
- Compiling the annual accounts and ensure consistency between all annual financial statements
- Compiling the annual accounts for publication
- Compiling, filing and archiving the official company documents of all legal entities
- Compiling the consolidation and preparing the corporate tax return
- Liaising with the external auditor and coordinating audits within the group fro the purpose of compiling the annual accounts
- Arranging and monitoring payroll accounting
- Formulating and communicating guidelines for the structure and schedule of the planning and control cycle
- Compiling mulit-year plans, budgets, monthly reports, liquidity planning and latest estimates for the holding companies
- Closing the accounts on a monthly basis, compiling the consolidation and management reports
- Analysing and monitoring the current results relative to the budget and providing pro-active advise on the corrective measures to be taken
- Formulating the basic principles and objectives of the accounting and internal control procedures
- Identifying business risks and arranging systems to manage these risks
- Setting up an effective management control system providing a monthly insight into the results and risks
- Optimising working methods and procedures to improve operations and coordinating improvement measures
- Designing and arranging the management of the accounting procedures and systems, in order to improve the quality of the internal management system
- Developing and implementing internal control instructions for the purpose of selective quality controls within the accounting department/business units
- Making an active contribution to the compilation of strategic multi-year plans, supervising the implementation of formulated policy and making proposals for adjustments
- Keeping abreast of new developments/statutory requirements with regard to accounting and administrative obligations/methods and techniques and putting forward proposals to be applied
- Generating solicited and unsolicited advice on the financial and economic consequences and implications of intended policy
- Contributing on an ad-hoc basis to projects relating to financial and accounting administration
- Selecting new staff in consultation with the management board and Human Resources
- Coaching, supporting and training employees within the department
- Preparing for and conducting periodic appraisals with each individual employee in accordance with the HRM cycle

Qualifications:
- 5 years of relevant work experience as a group controller in a medium-sized company operating internationally
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting or Finance
- Knowledge of financial/economic and accounting processes
- Knowledge and experience of modern reporting and consolidation systems, ERP systems, analysis and reporting tools and advanced proficiency in MS Excel
- Strong technical and analytical skills
- Strong problem solving and leadership skills
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills
