Lucas Professional Search Group is recruiting for a Senior Buyer for our large client- an automotive manufacturing company, in Windsor, ON.  
The Senior Buyer’s main area of focus will be negotiating contracts with existing suppliers and sourcing new vendors, and analyzing and identifying cost reduction initiatives.
Responsibilities:

• Prepare and analyze data related to costing and cost reduction initiatives
• Identify new cost reduction strategies
• Negotiate with existing vendors and suppliers to ensure the corporation is receiving the best price, quality and commonality of products and services
• Work alongside suppliers and champion cost reduction initiatives
• Participate as an active member of the Cost Reduction Committee, and VA/VE task team
• Conduct cost analysis using both qualitative and quantitative data
•  Summarize cost savings and develop strategies for commodities
• Identify and research new areas to support communization of parts and consolidation of supply base
• Create and provide accurate components costs for the quotation process for bill of material parts
• Assist in departmental budget preparation
• Continued education efforts
• Maintain and implement H&S policies and procedures to support and uphold a safe working environment
• All other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• University degree in business, engineering or supply chain management
• 5 years experience working in purchasing within an automotive manufacturing environment
• SCMP/CPP designation
• Ability to read ASM drawings/prints
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong knowledge of Windows, Excel, Word and BPCS
• Proven knowledge of at least two major commodities including steel, plastic, metal, electrical components etc

This is a full time permanent position with a salary, bonus and benefit package being offered to the successful candidate.
