Job Description

ON BEHALF OF OUR CLIENT, LUCASWORKS IS CURRENTLY RECRUITING FOR A PAYROLL OFFICER TO JOIN A LEADING COMPANY IN WINDSOR, ONTARIO.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze data provided by the Human Resources Department to ensure the accurate remuneration of employees
  • Analyze any changes in legislation, pension or union collection agreements that have an impact on payroll and translate these required changes for the payroll processor
  • Compile and analyze data to produce the pre T4 and T4A ensuring that all earnings and deduction fields are accumulating under the correct categories
  • Compile, prepare and reconcile accruals and deferrals for the salary and benefits assigned to ledger accounts for the fiscal year end
  • Prepare Records of Employment for employees and Government Agencies
  • Analyze such items as Canada Pension, Employment Insurance, Canada Savings Bonds, Union Dues, etc. in order to ensure that the appropriate contributions are being deducted
  • Prepare remittances to agencies such as Canada Revenue Agency and balance the payroll deductions reports.
  • Assist the Manager in calculating salaries and benefits for budget purposes
  • Responsible for all new set up required to the system
  • Schedule the activities for the payroll including: generation of the payroll documentation and schedules for the input into PeopleSoft and dates to the bank in order to ensure all employees have their pays in their banks on appropriate paydays.  Develop and maintain coding system for distribution of pay statements.
  • Answer incoming calls and deal with the general public both in person and on the phone
  • Verify employment being mindful of the sensitive and confidential nature of the material
  • Responsible for reception duties, attendance, ordering of supplies, mail, filing, copying, faxing, handling appointments, etc. when required
  • Must be knowledgeable of all aspects of payroll in order to act on an emergency, illness or vacation basis. 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 2 year Accounting/Payroll Administration Diploma required
  • Minimum 3 years with experience on a computerized banking payroll system
  • Must be knowledgeable in all aspects of payroll in order to act on an emergency, illness or vacation basis
  • Strong computer skills
  • Experience of PeopleSoft software system
  • Team player/Customer Service oriented
  • Must be able to deliver high quality results
  • Ability to work in a team environment
