Embedded Software Developer

Our Major Defense client in London Ontario is looking for an Embedded Software Developer to join their team on a 12 month contract.

This role pays between $28-33/hr 

Required Qualifications
 
•    University Degree in MECHATRONICS or Electrical, Software or Computer Engineering 
•    Minimum 1 yr experience (can be co-op experience) with embedded system software developmentc (C, C++), electronic hardware design, microcontrollers and processors (x86, PowerPC, Freescale) 
•    Experience with software development tools such as NI LabVIEW and Measurement Studio, MS Visual Studio, and CodeWarrior Development Studio
•    Experience with configuring and using embedded operating systems such as Windows, Linux, QNX, VxWorks, experience with data networks: SAE J1939, USB, RS485, Ethernet
•    Exceptional test and troubleshooting skills and proficient using standard electrical troubleshooting equipment (oscilloscope, meters, generators, etc)
•    Ability to travel (5% Cdn and 5% US & Int'l) and possess/be able to acquire and maintain a valid passport and must be able to meet Anthropometrical Size Restrictions for confined space 

Preferred Qualifications

•    Experience with full life cycle of a hardware/software project from bidding and requirements definition, through coding/designing/building/qualifying and support
•    Experience with Software Engineering Institute (SEI) Capability Maturity Model Integrated (CMMI) and IEEE 12207 for software engineering processes
•    Experience with industry/military standards relevant to the design of electronic systems
•    Experience with vehicle electrical generation, distribution, control and monitoring. 

Job Responsibilities

•    Generate, design, prove and integrate innovative ideas to further the capability of the electrical/electronic architecture of the Light Armored Vehicle
•    Develop embedded software in accordance with industry standards, departmental and organizational process and procedures
•    Develop graphical Human-Machine Interfaces, working closely with Human Factors Engineering
•    Design and integrate network architectures using CAN, Mil-CAN, and Ethernet
•    Conduct hardware and software testing to verify concepts, and progress viable designs to a production-ready / TRL7 level
•    Define/document software and hardware requirements for internal/external customers
•    Document designs with detailed requirements documentation, specifications, system functional descriptions, block diagrams, schematic diagrams, UML diagrams, ICDs, test plans, and technical reports
•    Participate in peer reviews and design reviews
