TECHNICAL SPECIALIST
 
The Company:
We are an industry leading company for over 25+ years in the supply of continuous emission monitoring systems and process analytics.  We are aggressively growing and have a fantastic career opportunity for a Technical Specialist. Our customers cover the power generation sector, pulp and paper, mining and minerals, petrochemical, refining, and incineration among others.  Our product lines include the cutting edge technology for gas analyzers, sampling system components, and process analyzers such as: gas chromatographs, NDIR, NDUV, and FTIR analyzers.  Our specialty is systems integration and our Technical Specialists are involved throughout the lifespan of our projects.
 
The Position:
The successful candidate will:
  • Be a product expert focusing on the installation and maintenance of continuous monitoring systems.
  • Provide timely problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution information to both internal and external personnel.
  • Provide input, advice, and validate proposed service solutions/plans.
  • Interpret and explain complex technical information.
  • Exercise judgment by evaluating situations which need escalation to their supervisors.
  • Provide efficient and courteous customer service at all levels.
  • Assess the potential for sales or additional goods/services, service contracts, etc. to the customer and make recommendations for further development by our Sales Team.
  • Continuously pursue personal and company improvement initiatives.
  • Travel as needed for onsite customer support (approx. 50% of time) within North America and potentially globally. 
Minimum Requirements:
  • A graduate of an Engineering, Technician, or Technologist post-secondary program (environmental, electronics, chemical, instrumentation) or equivalent education and/or experience in programming & controls.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills in different environments and cultures.
  • Well versed in instrument, pneumatic, and electrical drawings.
  • Experience in dealing with technical issues in a customer service setting is essential.
  • Team player with ability to work independently as needed.
  • Demonstrated organization and prioritization skills.
  • Demonstrated strong task management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to use initiative and good judgment in applying standard procedures.
 
Beneficial Experience:
  • Demonstrated Field Service experience, 1-5 years minimum preferred.
  • Programming experience with PLCs and microcontrollers.
  • Background knowledge of optical gas measurement devices.
  • Multilingual skills considered an asset.
