Job Description
Position Summary:
Working Monday to Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., the successful candidate is primarily responsible for overseeing the release and production of entries by supervising the team of Release Agents and Raters
Duties:
Perform quality functions to ensure staff complete transactions accurately
Supervise up to 12 staff members
Rate transactions; contact clients and vendors for additional information
Provide guidance and training to afterhours employees on complex problems, new initiatives and the timely and compliant release of freight
Effectively improve overall efficiency of the shift
Provide improvement opportunities for the shift
Perform database maintenance and handle regulatory / compliance duties including database audits
Assist Manager by supervising team members, conducting team meetings, monitoring attendance and work schedules, tracking performance and conducting reviews, completing bi-weekly attendance report, etc.
Provide Management team with updates on shift dynamics and overall staff
Assess team workload and report to management
Answer inquiries from clients regarding shipment releases and trade compliance issues
Monitor clients’ shipping processes (i.e. flow of paperwork, paperwork requirements) to ensure compliance and expedited releases; perform some client service tasks, including visiting clients on occasion
Perform a variety of other tasks as assigned by management
Education:
Up to date Certified Customs Specialist designation
Five or more years general brokerage experience
Supervisory experience preferred
Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
Able to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks
