Job Description
Our client is looking for Medical Laboratory Technicians to help on a Temporary basis starting the 2nd week of June.
Anyone located outside of Windsor but willing to assist for coverage required can be provided with travel and accommodations.
In this position you will interact with clients, colleagues, patients, and other health care professionals, to relay results and respond to routine inquiries. You will maintains and monitor testing equipment, work area, and testing supplies.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs various analyses on human specimens from varied sources

Organizes and prioritizes specimens/tests based on urgency of results (eg. routine, urgent, etc.), stability of specimens, and timing protocols.

Ensures specimen integrity by verifying patient identification and specimen suitability, including adequate amount/volume for the requested testing.

Identify factors that adversely affect specimen integrity and initiate appropriate action as indicated

Prepares and uses calibrators, standards, quality control materials

Performs analyses within acceptable limits of error as defined by policies and procedures.

Recognizes result discrepancies and takes appropriate action to correct when necessary.

Performs required QC procedures and applies accepted QC rules in daily practice, and takes appropriate action as indicated.

Recognizes, troubleshoots, and documents equipment, instrument, and reagent malfunction and initiates corrective action in a timely manner.

Communicates in an effective and professional manner to explain procedures and/or answer routine questions from physicians, nurses, or other appropriate health care professionals.
QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelor’s degree with relevant chemical, physical, or biological science as a major subject obtained from a university approved by the Director of Laboratory and Specimen Collection Centre Licensing (MOHLTC) and has been employed for a minimum of one year as a laboratory technologist in a laboratory approved by the Director of Laboratory and Specimen Collection Centre Licensing (MOHLTC).
OR
Recognition as a technologist by a technologist society in Canada, Great Britain, or the United States, whose courses of study are approved by the Director of Laboratory and Specimen Collection Centre Licensing (MOHLTC).
OR
A diploma as a laboratory technologist obtained from an Ontario Community College.

Current registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO) as a practising MLT.

Must maintain a current professional portfolio as defined by CMLTO (Quality Assurance Program).

At least six months of current laboratory experience in a hospital or clinic laboratory.

Maintain current knowledge of all applicable provincial and federal legislation, CMLTO regulations, consolidated bylaws, code of ethics, standards, and guidelines.

Must provide criminal records check
These positions will pay $16.50/hour and are located in Windsor.
