Fleetwood Metal Industries has an exciting opportunity in our Windsor Facility!  FMI is looking for a New Model – Quality Engineer.

Fleetwood houses over 60 presses that range from 250 to 2,000 tons for blanking, forming and drawing. Our advanced robotic mig and spot welding capabilities ensure the kind of quality that exceeds industry standards.  Our advancement in forming simulation and CATIA design is moving Fleetwood to the forefront of high strength material part production.

Outline of Duties

The New Model – Quality Engineer is responsible for providing primary support for new model development as well as providing overall QA support for mass production. More precisely, the incumbent:
 
  • Perform Quality task associated to New Model Development
  • Design, source and track checking fixtures
  • Coordinate PPAP activities
  • Develop control plans and data recording records
  • Gauge R&R
  • Train plant associates in Part Quality Requirements
  • Customer liaison with the opportunity travel to customers, suppliers and our plants
  • Participate in improvement projects between Suppliers and internal processes to achieve internal quality goals
  • Participate in quality improvement activities
  • Build Customer requirements into New Product launches
  • Test product and record data to ensure customer specifications are met.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements 

  • Post-secondary education in Mechanical Engineering/Quality Assurance or similar
  • Experience with Stamping, MIG welding and Resistance welding
  • Experience in new product launch
  • The ability to freely travel across boarders (USA)
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Five years previous experience in automotive manufacturing
  • Practical measurement skills with basic tools – calipers, micrometers etc.
  • Experience with GD&T, MSA, SPC
  • Problem solving techniques 5P or 8D
  • Familiar with general OEM standards
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written
  • Familiar with requirements of TS 16949 quality system
  • Strong technical and analytical aptitudes for problem solving
  • Good analytical ability
  • Computer literate – MS Word and Excel
  • Strong interpersonal and team skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Prioritizing / time management skills, ability to cope with multiple tasks
