Reporting to the Business Unit EH&S Manager, you will be responsible to provide leadership, direction and services to the Cargill AgHorizons Ontario and Quebec Region. You will support the implementation of the Cargill Environment Health and Safety program at these locations as well as liaison with the Regional and Terminal Operations leaders to provide guidance and support for EH&S.  As the EH&S Manager, you will also provide expertise in a broad range of EH&S disciplines including auditing, training, ergonomics, environmental compliance, industrial hygiene monitoring and security.

 

Principal Accountabilities:

 

40% - Support the Environment Health and Safety (EH&S) program which will include taking a lead role in providing resources and direction in all aspects of the program.  Specific duties to include conducting and reviewing facility audits, inspections and incidents to ensure corrective actions identified are completed within a timely manner. Environmental activities will include but not be limited to coordinating the environmental component of all acquisitions and divestitures, energy reporting as well as auditing and implementing policies on aspects and impacts relating to the business activities.  The incumbent will also be involved in assisting and reviewing in the delivery of the pre-employment and periodic medical program.

 

 30% - Training resource for all EH&S programs including Behavior Based Safety, confined space, forklift, defensive driving, TDG, WHMIS.  While there will be some expectation to conduct various courses in person, there will be a greater emphasis on developing or sourcing training resources, keeping them current and ensuring Cargill's safety and training requirements are being achieved at a world class level .

 

20% - Development and co-ordination of Safety Programs and Training related to Safety Committees/representatives, Ergonomics, Industrial Hygiene and other departmental training to ensure compliance to all regulatory and Cargill policy requirements.

 

10% - Responsible for WSIB/CSST claims management including, but not limited to claims reporting, claims oversight, vendor management (Organizational Solutions Incorporated OSI), and return to work programs.    Where major incidents occur or if an employee is injured or assigned restrictions to duties, the incumbent will lead the incident investigation and provide management of the file.

Required:

 

  • Post secondary education in engineering, science or mechanically related field or equivalent work experience

  • 3 years or more experience in a health and safety or environmental role

  • Professional certification: CRSP required within 3 years of accepting position

  • Working knowledge of technical areas such as environment, OH & S law, industrial hygiene, fire standards, security, property conservation and loss prevention

  • Auditing experience

  • Aptitude for establishing and executing priority activities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong leadership, teamwork, and decision making capabilities

  • Proficiency working with various business related and EH&S specific computer applications 

  • Must possess a valid drivers license

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

 

Preferred:

 

  • Degree or Diploma from university or college specific to EH&S

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Science or Health Sciences

  • CRSP certification

  • Trades or construction experience

  • Experience with a Federally Regulated Employer

  • Proven analytical abilities

  • Bilingual
