Job Description

An integral part of the External's Development operations, the Prospect Management, Research and Analytics team plays a key role in designing, implementing, coordinating and managing prospect management, prospect research, and data analytics in support of development operations across all programs (annual and leadership giving, major gifts, principal gifts and planned giving) and across all faculties and divisions.
 
The Director, Prospect Management and Data Analytics will provide integral insight, strategy and support to the fundraising efforts of the University. The incumbent is responsible for defining, implementing, and managing a transparent prospect management program at Western driven by innovative analytics that ensures the use of best practices, and the maximum potential of the University's prospect pool.  The incumbent partners with fundraising leaders to evaluate progress across programs and with individual prospects, and facilitates communication and management for work with prospects across institutional programs, faculties, and divisions.
 
Using best practices in data analytics, modelling and reporting, the Director plays a critical role in managing and analyzing program, faculty, division, and individual prospect portfolios, leading to the analysis, assessment and ongoing growth of the University's overall pipeline. The incumbent is a member of the overall management team of Advancement Operations and will work collaboratively to discuss and review the overall strategic direction and planning on core central advancement support functions.
 
Qualifications
Education:
-   Undergraduate Degree; in Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics or related field preferred
-   Masters Degree is preferred
 
Experience:
-   8 years' demonstrated experience in prospect management teams and in using analytics to fuel growth
-   Experience with accountability for information management and data analytics using a large complex database in a higher education setting
-   Experience with donor strategy development, implementation and evaluation
 
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
-   Familiarity with best practices in building a strong collaborative team and leading people
-   In-depth knowledge of project management tools and resources
-   In-depth knowledge of best practices related to data analytics in a development context
-   Familiarity in the higher education sector
-   Ability to communicate with technical staff, non-technical staff and demonstrate expertise related to data analysis
-   Ability to communicate and work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures
-   Openness to recognize when change is necessary, and to develop, implement and lead effective change management strategies
-   Ability to collaborate across internal and external boundaries to meet common objectives, improve outcomes and support work beyond one's own unit
-   Ability to mentor and train others; willingness to share skills and techniques with peers and colleagues
-   Competency to maintain confidentiality and treat sensitive information with discretion
-   Critical thinking and analytical skills to assess complex higher education issues of concern to stakeholders, including the media, the public, and prospective donors
-   Ability to draw on diversity of skills, backgrounds and knowledge of people to achieve more effective results
-   Ability to make decisions and recommendations that are clearly linked to the organization's strategy and goals
-   A desire to grow and advance skills, which is demonstrated by attending conferences, workshops and other professional developmental opportunities to enhance performance
-   Ambitious with the ability to identify and analyze opportunities, develop action plans and participate in setting goals in order to achieve desired outcomes
-   Ability to remain highly motivated, resilient, innovative, and collaborative when faced with challenges
-   Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite and other software as required to achieve the objectives of the role
-   Leadership skills with the ability to develop a shared vision to lead a team to excellence
-   Ability to search within and outside the formal boundaries of the organization for innovative ways to improve work
