CYLINDER DOCK & YARD SUPPORT PERSON – WINDSOR BRANCH
Dowler-Karn is looking to fill a full-time position at its Windsor branch. The successful candidate will focus on the proper and safe dispensing of propane to fill various sizes of propane cylinders. Additionally, this person is responsible for the organization of the yard including controlling work in progress, finished goods inventory and general yard cleanliness. This position requires a person with an excellent customer service attitude and skills to meet the needs of our customers.

A self-directed and safety conscious attitude is a must. Training will be provided on handling of hazardous products including propane handling and cylinder re-certifications. A willingness to work in a variety of weather conditions is required as is the ability to perform physically demanding tasks.

Dowler-Karn is looking to fill a full-time position at its Windsor branch. The successful candidate will focus on the proper and safe dispensing of propane to fill various sizes of propane cylinders. Additionally, this person is responsible for the organization of the yard including controlling work in progress, finished goods inventory and general yard cleanliness. This position requires a person with an excellent customer service attitude and skills to meet the needs of our customers.
Among the current responsibilities of the position are as follows:
- Perform all associated tasks to safely fill propane cylinders (various sizes)
- Complete daily inspection of the propane system
- Perform repairs to cylinders as required
- Perform random quality inspection of cylinders
- Service walk-in customers needing to exchange or fill cylinders
- Service drive-up customers at automotive dispensing island
- Control yard access for outside contractors
- Material handling, loading, unloading and receiving of orders / inventory
- Handling cash from counter sales
- Monitor inventory of cylinder replacement components and prepare orders as required
- Complete daily administrative requirements including cylinder fill log and sales log.
- Facility maintenance, including yard cleanliness, cylinder organization (current / outdated), clear and clean walkways, organized cylinder dock and shop
- Follow safety requirements at all times
- May provide assistance to the service department
- Other duties as assigned.
The successful applicant must possess:
- Minimum of a grade 12 diploma is required
- Valid driver’s license; lift truck experience is preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills and a flexible and dependable team player
- Self-directed and safety conscious
- Excellent customer service skills along with confidence as a front line customer service person
- Personable and confident with good time management and organizational skills who can work well under pressure
- The successful candidate will be physically fit, able to lift heavy objects on a regular and repetitive basis
