Since 1878, The Western Experience has combined academic excellence with life-long opportunities for intellectual, social and cultural growth in order to better serve our communities.  The Office of Institutional Planning & Budgeting (IPB) is responsible for the management and coordination of the University's planning and budgeting processes - and, as part of this responsibility, provides statistical, analytical, institutional research, and administrative support to the University's Executive Offices and senior Senate and Board of Governors committees in planning, budgeting, and policy matters.

Western University provides two separate, but related, data exchanges for member institutions (Canadian universities) regarding faculty demographics, education, rank and compensation. These exchanges include: The Ontario Council of Academic Vice-Presidents (OCAV) Data Exchange and the National Faculty Data Pool. The Planning Analyst is the primary contact for member institutions involved in these data exchanges, and is accountable for establishing portal access, training, managing submissions, auditing, cleansing and reporting on the data exchanged.

The Planning Analyst reviews data errors with member institutions to ensure corrections are made and subsequent reports are error-free. The incumbent also participates in monthly teleconferences/meetings to update members on data submissions and maintains the integrity of institutional data to ensure accurate analysis and reporting.

In addition, the incumbent supports the maintenance and reporting on other databases relating to students, employees, space, financials, instructor evaluations and other information used in performance indicators and provincial accountability reporting.

Qualifications
Education:
-   Undergraduate degree, with completed course in statistics, quantitative methods or research methods
-   Masters in Statistics or Quantitative Methods preferred
Experience:
-   1 year experience working with complex databases producing detailed data analysis and reports using SQL and SAS applications
Skills & Expertise:
-   Considerable knowledge of statistical analysis methods and techniques and the ability to apply these methods/techniques for a diverse range of data analyses needs
-   Working knowledge of data analysis tools (SQL) and statistical procedures (SAS or SPSS)
-   Advanced computer skills including spreadsheet design and database management
-   Ability to develop complex data tables and graphs which illustrate data clearly and present important findings
-   Demonstrated ability to research/investigate issues and resolve problems
-   Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally, and by preparation of reports and other materials
-   Self-driven, independent thinker who is highly motivated and possesses an intrinsic passion for quality
-   Ability to multi-task and to evaluate issues and provide alternative solutions and the ability to recognize and take action on potential problems
-   Possesses a reputation for resourcefulness with a strong sense of accountability and initiative
-   Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals
-   Ability and willingness to stay abreast of technological developments
-   Ability to work in a fluid and challenging work environment with changing deadlines
