POSITION: FINANCE MANAGER
REPORTS TO: CONTROLLER
STATUS: CONTRACT (1 YEAR)
LOCATION: BLENHEIM, ONTARIO

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist in the preparation of all financial statements and financial reports, including review of monthly working papers, and related analysis.
  • Manage the compilation of the annual business Plan and monthly Forecasts, involving providing templates for the contributors to complete, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the information as it is pulled together, reviewing and updating assumptions as necessary, and ensuring the integrity of the Plan as a whole.
  • Develop templates for reporting financial information to the Board of Directors, Leadership Team and other internal and external stakeholders. Supervise the preparation of such and review prior to reporting.
  • Manage the compilation of the quarterly Contribution Statements to track profitability by department, branch, and other breakdowns.
  • Preparation of ad-hoc reports and information as requested from management.
  • Manage the implementation of accounting policies and disclosures under US GAAP.
  • Co-ordinate preparation of information as requested from external financial statement auditors to ensure timely and accurate preparation of year-end financial statements.
  • Make recommendations on enhancements to business processes and controls and assist with implementation of same.
  • Maintain all grain licenses as required in each jurisdiction and arrange bonds as required.
  • Assist Controller with all tax-related functions including income and commodity taxes.
  • Assist in the design, documentation and implementation of internal procedures and policies encompassing all corporate departments and subsidiaries.
  • Assist with special projects or other duties as assigned.
  • Supervision of the Accountant/Auditor
 
SPECIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Experience/ knowledge/ qualifications : CPA designation; 5+ years work experience in the accounting field (agricultural experience is recommended, although not a requirement)
  • Education : Post-secondary degree in business or accounting
  • Skills : Analytical, organizational, time management, teamwork, coaching, communication, project management
 
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
  • Candidates must have a post-secondary education in one of the following disciplines: Financial, mathematics, statistics, library information science or equivalent experience.
