Job Description

As a Talent Acquisition Specialist, you play an integral role within the University to assist leaders in designing work to facilitate service delivery within their specific departments on campus.  Through interpretation of collective and employee agreements, role evaluation plans, and compensation plans, you advise leaders and colleagues on the design and documentation of work.

A typical day might include the following:
  • Consulting with leaders and administrators across campus to gain clarity on the talent required, and the competencies required to achieve the desired outcomes
  • Advising leaders on best practices related to talent acquisition processes, tools and principles
  • Liaising with human resource colleagues regarding organizational design implications and facilitating the posting of finalized roles for recruitment
  • Creating new role description templates and maintaining a database of completed templates
  • Preparing and presenting educational information to colleagues and leaders regarding recruitment processes as well as role description design and completion
  • Providing analysis and preparing reports to meet unit goals and assist in supporting organizational change initiatives

You think on your feet. You like handling diverse situations, multiple projects and rapidly changing priorities.

We’d love to hear from people with:
  • An undergraduate degree in Human Resources/Industrial Relations and completion of your CHRL
  • 3 years human resource experience, with a focus on recruitment; preferably in a unionized environment
  • Knowledge of recruitment best practices and job design
  • Knowledge of role description principles and practices, Employment Standards Act and Pay Equity Act
