Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Description

Our Major Defense client in London Ontario is looking for a Mechanical Designer to join their team.


Key Job Elements:
• Create solid models, layouts and associative assembly and detail drawings from sketches, notes or direction from senior designers or Project Engineers
• Perform design calculations and trade-off studies as required
• Design mobile defense systems with minimal supervision utilizing NX (Unigraphics) based CAD system integrated to the Teamcenter database.
• Will be responsible for completing production drawing packages to stringent industry, company and military standards.
• May be required to develop standard parts and integrate these parts into the Teamcenter Classification database.
• May be involved with CAD data transfer activities. Such activities may include converting incoming and outgoing CAD data and may include importing and exporting CAD data to and from the Teamcenter database.

Required Qualifications:
• 3 year College Diploma or University degree in a mechanical or Electro-Mechanical discipline
• 3 years experience with NX (Unigraphics) version 4 or higher in modeling, drafting and advanced assemblies
• Proficiency with common desktop office applications including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint in a Windows networked environment
• Ability to travel (5% Canadian and 5% US & International) and possess/able to acquire and maintain a valid passport


Preferred Qualifications:
• 3 years mechanical design utilizing CAD tools in a related industry, but will look at new grads as well
• Knowledge of military drawing practices including MIL-STD-100 and related ASME Y14 series standards
• Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (ASME Y14.5M-1994).
• Knowledge of Teamcenter Product Data Management application
• OACETT certified Mechanical Technologist or Technician (CET) with specialty in mobile equipment.
