JOB TITLE: Project Coordinator – Electrical
LOCATION: Education Centre, London (Hybrid)
SALARY RANGE: $79,932 - $105,707 (under review)
HIRING RANGE: $79,932 - $102,019
DATE OF VACANCY: Immediate

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Project Coordinator provides project management, construction management and oversight on all construction projects including renovations, major component replacements and other Ministry initiatives and funded projects, while establishing and developing system wide standards, specifications and initiatives. The incumbents are responsible for capital forecasting and prioritizing projects in collaboration with Board staff and external consultants to ensure a high-quality learning environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide project management, construction management and oversight for all stages of multiple construction projects at multiple locations simultaneously
  • Manage stakeholder relationships and ensure effective communication within Board’s infrastructure portfolio
  • Provide consultation services to Facility Services Department Leaders, other Coordinators, Supervisors and staff
  • Establish, develop and maintain system wide standards, specifications of materials and installation processes
  • Monitor and inspect the performance levels of building systems and assemblies and provide investigative research of materials, technology and techniques

WORK PERFORMED
  • Implement design guidelines, develop and implement functional parameters in accordance with Ministry of Education, legislative codes, regulations, by-laws, system specifications and Board standards
  • Monitor projects to improve the quality of services or products, reduce costs and improve performance schedules
  • Act as the owner’s representative or consultant on projects, additions and renovations
  • Attend meetings on behalf of the Board and participate on committees as required
  • Prepare agreements, review contracts, pre-qualify contractors and provide direction regarding the terms of reference, standards, specifications, drawings, scope and intent of work
  • Initiate letters of intent and approve purchase orders, change orders and payment certificates
  • Research and write reports as requested
  • Administer applicable warranties and resolve issues appropriately
  • Maintain records for estimates, schedules, project tracking and facility data bases
  • Monitor and review the performance of the consultant providing direction and support
  • Assist in all aspects of the commissioning of the project
  • Provide technical support for all building components and minor building renovations
  • Assist in developing department policies and procedures
  • Provide afterhours assistance as required
  • Implement improvement plans to ensure maintenance of real property asset value
  • Care and control construction contracts, fiscal oversight and perform continuous risk management and assessments
  • Review, evaluate, establish priority and administer annual budget for current and future school renewal projects based on identified needs
  • Ensure safety of staff, students and building occupants is preserved
  • Provide construction updates, project completion timelines and contingency planning provisions to stakeholders
  • Review, approve and ensure payment certificates and/or invoices meet Prompt Payment Act
  • Provide consultation and advice related to accurate information within Ministry facility inventory database
  • Ability to travel throughout the TVDSB district

QUALITIES/SKILLS/SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE:
  • Advanced analytical and project management skills and knowledge of construction law, contract management and negotiation techniques are required
  • Specialized knowledge in architectural, structural, site servicing, environmental, mechanical and electrical domains
  • Ability to interpret Codes, Acts, By-laws, Regulations
  • Ability to manage budgets and accounting software to provide cost/budget analysis and use computer aided design software to manipulate drawings
  • Proficient in computer systems as Outlook 365, MS Office Suite, etc.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with effective communication skills, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to work both independently and part of a team

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
  • Completion of a three (3) year post secondary Certificate or Diploma in Building Construction, Engineering, or equivalent (i.e. Architecture, Building Sciences, Project Management)
  • Five (5) years or related work experience in construction and/or project management role, including one (1) year in a senior-level supervisory/administrative capacity is required
  • Professional Engineer or Licensed Architect in Ontario are assets.
  • Member of the Association of Architectural Technologists of Ontario (AATO), a member of Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT), LEED Certification, Project Management Professional (PMP), are assets
