Reporting to the highly respected and successful Library Director, the Assistant Director  of Branch Services will provide empowering and visionary leadership to the branch staff, including the management of; employee resources and recruitment, performance management, training and development.  The Assistant Director of Branch Services will work closely with the Library Director to build upon the successfully implemented changes to date, while ensuring the efficient and effective operation and administration of branch services. The Assistant Director will also   develop recommendations, policies and strategies to establish new information programs and services for future library growth and success. 

The Assistant Director of Branch Services will promote a progressive, customer focussed and innovative library services vision to both key internal and external stakeholders and to the public, while continuing to build valuable relationships with Bruce County’s “Friends of the Library” groups.  The Assistant Director of Branch Services will also administer and trouble-shoot the integrated library system while reporting to the Director on matters relating to branch functionality, programs, staff, and other relevant matters.  Finally, the Assistant Director will attend Library Board meetings and stand in for the Library Director/CEO when required.

As the successful candidate, The Assistant Director of Branch Services will be required to hold a Master’s degree in Library and Information Technology/Science, coupled with a minimum of 4 years progressive leadership and public library sector experience, with at least 2 years of supervisory experience in a unionized environment. . The Assistant Director of Branch Services will have working knowledge of the following; library and information technology systems, experience with digital applications and principles of collection management and integrated library systems.  This Leader will operate with a high level of integrity, coupled with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
