LOCATION: Education Centre, London
SALARY RANGE: $63,172-$83,542
HIRING RANGE: $63,172-$80,628

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Fundraising Specialist is responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation and of fundraising activities and events and for management of key funding programs for the Thames Valley Education Foundation (TVEF) in support of students at the Thames Valley District School Board (TVDSB). The Fundraising Specialist will work in collaboration with the Development Officer, TVDSB (Executive Director, TVEF) to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward donors for various programs that promote education equity within the TVDSB.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

FUNDRAISING:
  • Develops and implements an overall strategy and annual plan for fundraising and fund management, outlining fundraising goals, communications objectives and activities which aligns with the TVEF strategic plan
  • Maximize community support through identification of new donors and partnerships
  • Manages the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors, and conducts related research to identify donors as appropriate
  • Plan and execute fundraising events and campaigns to support TVEF funding programs including runs/walks, galas, staff lottery, social media fundraising campaigns
  • Engage, inspire and steward volunteers to support fundraising events and programs
  • Solicit community foundations and corporations through grant writing
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders (TVDSB staff and administration, students) to encourage support for/participation in fundraising activities
  • Provide support to Development Officer, TVDSB (Executive Director, TVEF) to grow organization funding programs and financial sustainability
  • Support donation processing, receipting and database management functions such as reporting and creation of system for recording donor data
PROGRAM MANAGEMENT:
  • Support the management of key funding and support programs such as the Caring Fund, Lawson Literary Awards, Learning Enhancement Fund and Best First Day (backpack program) and awards and scholarships
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders (TVDSB staff and administration, students) to determine programming needs
  • Support program evaluation to determine effectiveness of key funding programs for students
COMMUNICATIONS:
  • Represent TVEF messaging and brand through management and creation of content for TVEF social media channels (Twitter, Instagram)
  • Develop marketing materials for donor engagement and stewardship such as newsletters and reports
  • Update and maintain TVEF website
  • Represent TVEF at various events, functions and through community presentations
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: 
  • Successful completion of three (3) years post secondary education in public relations, communications, marketing or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of collaborative work experience in fundraising, business administration, project management or events
  • Self-starter with capability to manage and drive multiple deliverables simultaneously
  • Advanced relationship management skills, e.g., communication, teamwork, problem-solving, etc.
  • Ability to effectively lead a fundraising or revenue-generating program and achieve targets
  • Communication skills with the ability to converse with, write reports for, and deliver presentations to all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work in a manner that models best practices in confidentiality standards
  • Cross-cultural competency with an ability to interact and work effectively with people from different cultures and backgrounds
  • Discretion, tact and maturity to deal with public relations issues related to public education
  • Experience with fundraising databases an asset
  • Experience working in a complex non-profit environment with multiple stakeholder communication responsibilities an asset
  • Ability to work within a flexible schedule to organize and attend events, activities, and meetings
  • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
