Senior Applications Engineer
Job Description
- Full time position for a Senior Applications Engineer/ Technologist with skills specific to custom automated systems
- The Candidate will be responsible for conceptual design and development of automated equipment, costing and bid proposal writing in response to customer requests
- Working with sales person and end customer to define customer needs, collect all technical information and transfer them into the system concept for the proposed automation systems
- Work with third party vendors to develop solutions and solicit bids for third party equipment required within the automated systems
- Travel to customer site to review customer RFQ, Present proposals to customers, and assist with conceptual development
- Coordinate the efforts of multiple team members involved in proposals for large automated systems
- Ensure that the quoted concept meets customer specific and industry standard design and machine build standards
- Obtain and prepare detailed cost estimates for labor & material costs required for each aspect of the machine build; mechanical and controls design, programming, machine build, testing and commissioning.
- Develop a detailed proposal for the customer using Microsoft Word template
- Perform internal review of proposals with management team prior to submission to the customer
- Assist with follow up sales presentations and customer reviews
- Ensure smooth transfer of knowledge to project team during project kickoff
- Attend post project review to ensure lessons learned are included in future proposals
Desired Skills & Experience
- At least 5-8 yrs. experience in applications or design of industrial automation systems
- General knowledge of automated machine control systems
- Proficient in presenting a proposal to a small group of people
- Proficient with Microsoft products; particularly Word and Excel
- Ability to work overtime, holidays and weekends
- Ability to deliver results under tight deadlines
It is an asset to have any of the following experience and qualifications:
- Experience with CSA and US Industrial Safety Regulations for Machinery and Robotics
- Experience with machine and process conception and cycle-time analysis
