Job Description
Our Client the Small Business Centre at Windsor Essex Economic Development Corporation (WEEDC) stationed In Windsor Ontario has an opportunity for you as a Young Coordinator/Business Advisor.
As a member of the Small Business Centre at WindsorEssex Economic Development Corporation (WEEDC), the Young Coordinator/Business Advisor will be responsible for assisting with the administration and execution of the young/youth entrepreneurship programs and services offered. The Business Advisor will also be involved with providing client support through one-on-one consultation services, delivery of workshops and youth specific outreach and training programs.
Consult with young/youth entrepreneurs providing advice on business planning and development.
Administer youth entrepreneur programs to meet requirements of funding partners (i.e. Summer Company, Starter Company, CYBF).
Identify opportunities to support the Small Business Centre.
Provide one-on-one consultations and guidance to entrepreneurs and program participants regarding business planning and development.
Promote youth entrepreneurship and the Small Business Centre and WEEDC services to target audience in the region through proactive community involvement (in school presentations, networking events, etc.).
Communicate information to entrepreneurs and small business owners on a wide variety of business related subjects through training workshops and events.
Experience in the small business sector and previous entrepreneurial experience considered an asset.
Knowledge in the area of business planning preparation, market analysis, financial planning and forecasting, small business needs, business start-up procedures and government and private sector programs and services available to assist small business is required.
Highly motivated, responsive, and works/thinks creatively within a fast-paced, time sensitive environment.
Working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint), Social Media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn) is required and Customer Relationship Management System is an asset.
Must be customer focused and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to conduct client consultations and seminar presentations.
Document activities via Client Information System (CIS) in a timely, accurate and comprehensive manner. Maintain adequate flies as per SBC, MEDTE and WEEDC guidelines.
University Degree or College Diploma in Business is preferred. Experience in small business consulting including developing a small business is an asset. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Required from time to time to assume and take on accountabilities, responsibilities and tasks of other team members to support the WEEDC initiatives and overall success.
Flexibility - willing to work evenings and weekends as required to deliver programs.
Bilingualism (French) considered an asset.
