Job Description
The Health Centre seeks a dynamic Primary Care Nurse Practitioner to join our clinical team dedicated to providing health care to those who experience barriers to care. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of newcomers and refugees, and those significantly marginalized by poverty, addiction, mental health, and housing issues. This role will work with our refugee health clinic, supporting newcomers to Canada along the continuum of care within a health promotion framework and liaising with interdisciplinary team members and external care providers to facilitate the best plan of care for clients.
THE COMPENSATION PACKAGE
- Part-time temporary contract to cover a planned leave of absence
- A salary range of $127,000 - $141,000

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor or Master of Science in Nursing from a recognized university
- Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner Certificate
- Registered Nurse in the Extended Class in good standing with the Ontario College of Nurses
- 3-5 years of primary care experience in a community setting or combination of community and hospital or public health
- Knowledge of trauma and violence informed care and experience working with individuals who have experienced trauma, including refugees
- Understanding of and commitment to health equity
- Awareness and understanding of the social determinants of health
- Demonstrated ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds through an inclusive and anti-oppressive lens
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to prioritize competing demands
- Experience with Electronic Medical Records (Telus Practice Solutions Suite currently in use)
- French and other language skills are considered an asset in supporting the communities we serve
